Hamilton Loomis is not simply another blues guitarist. He represents the future of the genre whilst paying heartfelt respect to its past. Fusing blues, soul, funk, rock and rhythm & blues into a thrilling, high-energy performance, Loomis has built an international reputation as one of the most exciting live performers anywhere on today's roots music circuit.

That perfectly captures an artist whose music refuses to stand still.
Born and raised in Galveston, Texas, Loomis was immersed in music from childhood. Raised by musical parents, he mastered drums, piano, guitar, bass and harmonica before reaching his teenage years, while also performing with his family's doo-wop group. By the age of fourteen he was already writing his own material, and before he was eighteen he had performed before tens of thousands at the renowned Delta Blues Festival alongside many of the very musicians who would soon become his mentors.
The defining moment in his remarkable journey came at just sixteen years old.
Meeting Rock & Roll Hall of Fame legend Bo Diddley backstage before a concert, the evening unexpectedly ended with the teenager joining his hero on stage. That chance encounter blossomed into a close friendship and lifelong mentorship that would shape Hamilton's entire musical philosophy.
Bo's advice became Hamilton's guiding principle:
"Innovate, don't imitate."
It remains the cornerstone of everything Loomis creates.
Bo Diddley himself recognised something extraordinary in the young Texan, famously declaring:
"You got to put some seasonin' in what you're doin', and this boy's got the whole salt shaker!"
Diddley later appeared on Hamilton's acclaimed album Ain't Just Temporary, contributing vocals and guitar to the infectious "You Got To Wait" — one of the final studio collaborations of the legendary pioneer before his passing. The album went on to reach No. 7 on the Billboard Blues Albums Chart, introducing Hamilton's unique sound to an even wider audience.
Hamilton's education in the blues didn't stop there.
Texas legends Johnny Copeland, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Albert Collins and Joe "Guitar" Hughes all took the young musician under their wing, recognising not only his extraordinary talent but also his deep respect for the music's heritage. Rather than encouraging him to become another traditional blues player, they inspired him to find his own voice — a lesson Hamilton continues to champion today as he mentors young musicians himself.
His debut album, Hamilton, received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album, launching a career that has steadily gathered international acclaim. Albums including Kickin' It, Give It Back and Basics have demonstrated an artist constantly evolving while remaining rooted in authentic blues tradition.
