Leading the charge is the formidable Steve Walwyn, one of Britain's most revered rhythm & blues guitarists. For an incredible 32 years Steve was the driving guitar force behind legendary British R&B institution Dr. Feelgood, helping carry the band's legacy around the globe while earning a reputation as one of the most authentic and exciting guitar players on the European blues circuit.
But Steve's story reaches far beyond Dr Feelgood.
Before joining the Feelgoods, he was hand-picked by the late, great Steve Marriott — one of the greatest voices British rock has ever produced. Marriott was so impressed by Walwyn's playing with The DTs that he invited the band to join him, creating the celebrated Steve Marriott Band. For two years Steve worked alongside the former Small Faces and Humble Pie frontman, absorbing lessons from one of rock's true masters.
His career has also included spells with Eddie and the Hot Rods, Roger Chapman, The Big Town Playboys, Chevy and numerous other cornerstone acts of British rock and rhythm & blues. Along the way he has shared stages with heroes such as Rory Gallagher, BB King and Canned Heat while becoming one of the most respected guitarists of his generation.
If Steve Walwyn represents the fire, then Ted Duggan is the engine room.
Ted is one of those rare drummers whose career reads like a journey through British popular music itself. His professional career stretches back to the 1960s and includes work with power-pop legends Badfinger, 2-Tone favourites The Beat, The Selecter, reggae icon Desmond Dekker, electronic pioneers Banco de Gaia and even The Drifters.
His ability to move effortlessly between blues, rock, ska, reggae, soul and electronic music has made him one of Britain's most versatile drummers. Yet what really makes Ted special is his feel. Every groove swings. Every shuffle breathes. Every backbeat lands exactly where it should. Recent reviews praised his playing as "precise, powerful and nuanced," describing the Dirt Road rhythm section as "as tight as any you'll hear on the circuit."
Then there is the unmistakable figure holding everything together on bass...
Horace Panter.
For most music fans, that name alone is enough.
As a founding member of the legendary The Specials, Horace helped create one of the most important and influential British bands of the last half century. Songs like "Ghost Town", "Too Much Too Young", "Gangsters" and "A Message To You Rudy" became part of the fabric of British music and culture, while The Specials spearheaded the entire 2-Tone movement and inspired generations of musicians around the world.
Forty-plus years after helping launch a musical revolution, Horace remains one of the most distinctive bass players in British music. His groove, feel and timing are simply second nature. Whether he's laying down a reggae pulse, a driving R&B line or a deep blues groove, he brings the authority and effortless cool that only comes from a lifetime at the highest level.
Together these three musicians have created something far greater than the sum of their individual achievements.
