SARAH YEO – THE CIRCLES OF THE GRAIN TOUR
Some voices stop conversations. Others stop time.
Sarah Yeo possesses one of those rare voices that immediately commands attention — rich, soulful, unmistakably British and capable of delivering a lyric with such honesty that audiences often find themselves hanging on every word.
Over the last two decades, the Devon-based singer-songwriter has quietly established herself as one of the UK's most compelling contemporary folk, country and Americana artists. Blending the storytelling traditions of British folk with the emotional depth of classic country music, Yeo has developed a style entirely her own — thoughtful, melodic and deeply human.
Her growing reputation has seen her perform throughout the UK and across the United States, including appearances in New York City and California, while sharing stages with some of the most respected names in modern country and Americana, including Ward Thomas, The Wandering Hearts and Kezia Gill. She was also invited to perform pre-show at Birmingham Symphony Hall during Bonnie Raitt's acclaimed 2023 UK tour — a significant nod for an artist whose music shares many of the qualities that have made Raitt such an enduring inspiration.
Songwriting has always been at the heart of Sarah's artistry. A finalist in the International Blues & Roots Songwriting Competition in both 2019 and 2020, and a semi-finalist in the prestigious 2024 UK Songwriting Competition, she has consistently earned recognition for songs that combine vivid storytelling with emotional authenticity.
Critics have been equally enthusiastic. BBC Introducing simply described her as possessing a "Beautiful Voice" and praised her "Brilliant Narrative Folk," while Maverick Magazine hailed her as an artist with "Amazing vocals" who is "evolving and raising the bar at the same time."
Her acclaimed 2024 album The Wisdom Of The Wind further cemented her reputation. Awarded four stars by RnR Magazine, it was described as "a gloriously tuneful and thought-provoking gem of an album." Elsewhere, reviewers praised her "soulful, warm voice" and beautifully crafted songwriting, with one critic comparing elements of her vocal style to the late Karen Carpenter.
Sarah's musical journey began long before the recent accolades. Influenced by artists such as Linda Ronstadt, Gretchen Peters, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Show of Hands, she has spent years refining a sound that sits comfortably between folk, country and Americana. Along the way she has released multiple EPs, albums and singles, including a celebrated interpretation of Constant Craving that even earned the approval of k.d. lang herself. Her early recordings were produced by Richard Digby Smith, whose studio credits include work with Led Zeppelin and Bob Marley.
Now she arrives at Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre touring her remarkable new acoustic collection, The Circles Of The Grain. The album explores life, memory, loss, love and renewal, centred around the idea that every possession, thought, feeling and living thing eventually returns to the earth. Stripped back to voice and guitar, these songs reveal Sarah at her most intimate and most powerful.
At a time when authenticity can often feel in short supply, Sarah Yeo stands apart. Her songs are beautifully crafted, her musicianship effortless and her performances utterly captivating.
If you appreciate the songwriting of Gretchen Peters, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt or The Wandering Hearts, this promises to be a truly special evening.
